Right Now Group are currently recruiting for an Air Export Operator to join a well-established small freight forwarding company based in the Heathrow area. Our client is seeking a detail-oriented individual to support air export operations, managing general cargo and pharmaceutical shipments while ensuring all export documentation, customs procedures, and operational processes are handled compliantly and efficiently from start to finish.
The successful candidate will have previous experience within an export operations position with an understanding of import movements and the willingness to learn.
Position: Air Export Operator
Location: Feltham
Hours: Monday - Friday
Salary: £32,000 - £34,000+ Overtime
Key Responsibilities for an Air Export Operator:
- Manage end-to-end air export shipments, ensuring the smooth and timely movement of goods.
- Manage import shipments end to end (a previous understanding would be beneficial although training can be provided)
- Handle general freight and pharmaceutical shipments, ensuring compliance with all relevant handling and regulatory requirements.
- Create and process MAWBs and HAWBs accurately.
- Prepare and complete export customs entries and documentation in line with HMRC and industry regulations.
- Liaise with overseas agents, airlines, and suppliers to coordinate shipments and ensure service levels are maintained.
- Provide clear and timely communication with customers regarding shipment progress.
- Manage the export process from quotation through to final billing, ensuring all documentation is completed correctly.
- Monitor shipment progress and resolve any operational issues or delays.
- Work closely with internal colleagues to ensure efficient operational workflow.
- Support wider operational activities where required within a small team environment including the warehouse
Key Skills for an Air Export Operator:
- Previous experience in air export freight forwarding.
- Strong knowledge of MAWB and HAWB creation and export documentation.
- Experience handling general cargo and ideally pharmaceutical shipments.
- Knowledge of export customs processes and compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage shipments from start to finish with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication and customer service skills when dealing with clients, airlines, and overseas agents.
- Exposure to import operations would be advantageous, with a willingness to learn the full freight forwarding process.
- Ability to work effectively within a small company environment and support wider operational needs.
- Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn additional aspects of freight operations over time.
